Hi @Ak1402,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP Victus 15 laptop has decent specs, but 4K video playback can be demanding, especially if the CPU is maxing out. Here are a few things you can try to improve playback performance.
Update Drivers:
- Make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Go to the AMD website or use the AMD Radeon Software to check for updates.
Check for System Updates:
- Ensure your operating system is updated to the latest version.
Adjust Video Playback Settings:
- On YouTube, you can try lowering the video quality to 1080p or 1440p to see if that reduces the load on your CPU.
Close Background Applications:
- Close any unnecessary applications or processes running in the background that might be using CPU resources.
Optimize Power Settings:
- Go to your power settings and make sure you are using the "High Performance" power plan, which can help your CPU perform better.
Check Hardware Acceleration:
- Ensure hardware acceleration is enabled in your web browser settings. This can offload some of the video processing to your GPU instead of the CPU.
Clean Up and Defragment:
- Perform a disk cleanup and defragment your hard drive (if you're using an HDD). If you have an SSD, ensure it's optimized.
Monitor Temperature:
- High CPU usage can sometimes be a result of overheating. Check if your laptop is getting too hot and clean the vents or use a cooling pad if needed.
If you've tried these steps and still face issues, it could be worth considering a hardware upgrade, such as adding more RAM or using an external GPU if possible, to handle more demanding tasks like 4K video playback.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
