I need a new gaming laptop. I bought HP in the past (Zbook).

I want one that I can game with all day on the weekends. In the past, I had HP laptops that had GPUS at 2-4GB. I have a Zbook Fury now but it's won't play all day. The unit gets so hot that it shutdown.

Can I get a suggestion for an Omen unit that might fit the bill?

Also, I don't want AMD because it has no turbo boost.

Hi @VikramTheGreat,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay. The budget is open.

The issue is really the ability to do all day gaming. I play games on the weekend and it starts Friday nights and I play till Sunday Evening. I need a portable unit with a GPU that doesn't generate so much heat that the unit shutdowns.

Let me give some starting points for you to consider:

17 inch

Dream Color

Intel Ultra 9 but I think you have AMD.  I hate AMD but for Gaming I guess I'll try it

Units Options:

17-db1097nr

17z-dbo100

I wish you had an Ultra Core 9 / Intel 17" unit

I'll build configures and post them later.

The OMEN, 17z-dbo100, was the only unit configurable

Here's the configuration I built

  • Windows 11 Home
  • AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 365 (up to 5.0 GHz, 24 MB L3 cache, 10 cores, 20 threads) + NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5070 Laptop GPU (8 GB)
  • 32 GB DDR5-5600 MHz RAM (2 x 16 GB)
  • 17.3" diagonal, QHD (2560 x 1440), 48-240 Hz, 3 ms response time, IPS, mic (ro-edge, anti-glare, Low Blue Light, 300 nits, 100% sRGB
  • 1 TB PCIe® Gen4 NVMe™ Performance M.2 SSD
  • HP 3 Year Pickup and Return for Spectre, Omen, OmniBook Ultra Notebook (RiskFree)
  • No Additional Office Software
  • Security Software Trial
  • 6-cell, 83 Wh Li-ion polymer
  • Full-size, 1-zone RGB backlit, shadow black keyboard with numeric keypad
  • HP True Vision 1080p FHD IR camera with temporal noise reduction and integrated dual array digital microphones
  • Realtek Wi-Fi 6 (2x2) and Bluetooth® 5.4 wireless card
  • HP 1 Year Warranty

1. What is the difference between Windows Home and Windows Pro? I guess if it's just for gaming but does W11 Home have what is needed to game?

2. What is the difference between realltek and mediatek wifi?

Hi @Residentx10,

Thank you for getting back with the pc configration details that I can check. In the meantime, here are clear, simple explanations for both questions

1. Windows 11 Home vs Windows 11 Pro – What’s the difference?

And is Windows 11 Home good for gaming?**

✔ Gaming:

YES Windows 11 Home is perfectly fine for gaming.
All major games, game launchers, drivers, and GPUs work exactly the same on Home.

There is zero performance difference between Home and Pro for gaming.

Main differences (Home vs Pro):

Who should get Windows Pro?

  • IT professionals
  • People managing multiple PCs
  • Businesses
  • Users needing advanced security, virtualization, or remote-access tools

Who should get Windows Home?

  • Anyone gaming
  • General everyday users
  • Students, home users

👉 For gaming: Windows 11 Home = Windows 11 Pro.
No benefit to Pro unless you need business-level features.

Related to the Wifi card, I will update with the details in sometime

Take care and have an amazing day!
