Hello, I have HP Victus 16-d1xxx with RTX3060, 16GB RAM and I5-12500H. I want to use Oculus rift S. My laptop doesnt have Display port so I found that VR can be connected via USB-C connector, but Im not sure If it will be working. Can someone tell me if the RTX gpu is connected to my USB-C connector?

Hi @jakubkomarek,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The USB-C port on your HP Victus laptop likely supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, which means it can output a DisplayPort signal through the USB-C port. However, whether your laptop's USB-C port is directly connected to the RTX 3060 GPU depends on how the laptop's internal hardware is designed.
In many laptops with discrete GPUs like the RTX 3060, the USB-C port is often connected directly to the integrated graphics (iGPU) rather than the discrete GPU (dGPU). This is because the USB-C port is primarily intended for data transfer and video output for integrated graphics.
To find out for certain if the USB-C port on your laptop is connected to the RTX 3060 GPU, you can:
- Check the laptop's specifications or manual: Sometimes, laptop manufacturers will specify whether the USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode and if it's connected to the discrete GPU.
- Test it: You can connect an external monitor or VR headset that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode to the USB-C port and see if it works. If it does, then it's likely connected to the GPU.
However, even if the USB-C port is connected to the integrated graphics, it should still be able to handle VR experiences adequately, though it may not perform as well as if it were connected to the discrete GPU directly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
