Hi @SCD321G17L,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Touchpad Settings:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to Devices > Touchpad.
- Ensure the touchpad is enabled and adjust sensitivity settings.
Update Touchpad Driver:
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on your touchpad device (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN), and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Touchpad Driver:
- Again, in Device Manager, right-click your touchpad device and select Uninstall device. Ensure to check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device if prompted.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the touchpad driver.
- If the touchpad driver isn’t reinstalled, download and install it from the HP Drivers and Software.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates.
Enable Touchpad in BIOS:
- Power off your laptop.
- Power it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
- Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.
- Navigate to Advanced > Device Options.
- Ensure Internal Pointing Device is set to Enabled.
- Save changes and exit.
I hope this helps.
