I really like this laptop but i get annoyed a lot when some problems occur. Firstly, it was the massive input delay, this was annoying me a lot but thankfully its mostly gone now. Secondly, a main concern is about the performance mode. When i want to play games like rarely (highly performance taking) i try switching to performance mode but it just doesnt switch. When i put the screen refresh rate (in settings) to 144.5 hz, i feel the hz increase but performance is compromised. Please help me hp.

Hi @fr_fr3derik,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To address the issues of input delay and non-functional performance mode on your HP OMEN laptop, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to improve the overall performance and ensure that the performance mode works correctly.
Input Delay
Steps to Reduce Input Delay:
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Ensure all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up-to-date. You can use the HP Support Assistant or visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers and BIOS updates.
Optimize Power Settings:
- Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" and select the "High Performance" power plan.
- Click "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings" and ensure settings like "Processor power management" are set to maximum performance.
Disable Background Processes:
- Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to disable unnecessary startup programs and background processes that might be causing input lag.
Adjust Game Settings:
- In your game settings, lower the graphics settings to see if it reduces input delay.
- Ensure V-Sync is turned off, as it can introduce input lag.
Update Firmware for Peripherals:
- If you are using external peripherals like a mouse or keyboard, make sure their firmware is updated.
Performance Mode Not Activating
Steps to Ensure Performance Mode Functions:
OMEN Gaming Hub:
- Open the OMEN Gaming Hub and ensure it is fully updated.
- In the OMEN Gaming Hub, navigate to the "Performance Control" section.
- Select "Performance Mode" and apply the changes.
NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:
- If your laptop has an NVIDIA GPU, open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Go to "Manage 3D settings" and select "High-performance NVIDIA processor" as the preferred graphics processor.
- In the same section, set "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance."
Check Windows Settings:
- Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Display" > "Advanced display settings" and ensure your refresh rate is set correctly.
- Sometimes, switching between different refresh rates can cause performance issues. Ensure it's set to 144Hz if that's what you prefer.
Adjust Graphics Settings in Games:
- Ensure that the games are configured to run in high performance mode.
- Sometimes, games have their own performance settings that need to be adjusted to utilize the full capability of your hardware.
General Troubleshooting
Update Windows:
- Ensure your Windows OS is fully updated. Sometimes performance issues can be resolved with the latest updates.
Clean Install of Graphics Drivers:
- Use a tool like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove your current graphics drivers.
- Reinstall the latest drivers from the GPU manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA or AMD).
Check for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus software to ensure that malware isn’t affecting your system’s performance.
Reduce Thermal Throttling:
- Ensure your laptop is well-ventilated and not overheating. You might consider using a cooling pad.
- Reapply thermal paste if necessary and ensure that the internal fans and vents are clean from dust.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
