HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0003ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello Community, I have had HP Pavilion gaming laptop 15-ec0003ca since Dec2019.  Since the 1st month, getting blue screen faulty hardware.  Did a few HP support contacts with last one Nov2020. HP support said was software gliche and provided some updates.  This never worked completely but slowed the frequency of errors (or was it coincidence).  Now with failure resulting in not a proper boot to user (system will boot to initial select sign in screen) local tech is saying it's the hard drive.  The drive is an Intel SSDPEKNW512G8H and Intel site says 5 yr warranty if purchased separate but contact HP if part of a device purchase.  HP has no way for me to contact them to appeal for a warranty support in this case.  Any suggestions? thanks!

Hello @SSDwoes

(1) Watch the HP Support tutorial youtube video on your smartphone. You don't need to download any software.

(2) Power on your computer and enter HP Diagnostics UEFI

Hello, thank you for your suggestions.  I ran the HP diagnostics (quite thoroughly) and all of the tests passed.  I then went back to Windows Systems recovery and used an alternate date to the one I tried initially.  Successfully restored and able to back up data and running with one issue - had to uninstall Chrome.  I find it perplexing that an external tech that I took the laptop for diagnosis said it was the hard drive.  Maybe it is but it is intermittent.

thanks again for your help

Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help resolve the following issues:

  • An available BIOS update resolves a specific issue or improves computer performance.
  • The current BIOS does not support a hardware component or a Windows upgrade.
  • HP Support recommends installing a specific BIOS update.
