Hi @bizz3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re having a tough time with your internal speakers and audio drivers on your OMEN By HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop. Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Audio Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Open Sound settings.
  • Under Output, make sure the correct output device is selected (e.g., "Speakers" or "Headphones").
  • Click on Device properties and ensure that the volume is turned up and not muted.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Under Sound, video and game controllers, if you see a generic audio device but not Realtek, try updating it:
    • Right-click on the device and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • If it finds a new driver, install it and restart your laptop.

Reinstall Realtek Audio Drivers:

  • Download the latest Realtek audio driver from the HP Support website or Realtek's official site.
  • Install the driver and restart your laptop.
  • After installation, check if the Realtek driver appears in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers.

Check Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates and install any available updates.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Sometimes audio issues can be due to BIOS settings. Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or DEL during startup).
  • Check if audio settings are enabled. Save any changes and exit.

Check for Conflicting Software:

  • Ensure there are no third-party audio management programs that could be conflicting with the Realtek drivers.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, you might want to try restoring your system to a point before the problem began.
  • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore and follow the prompts.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the internal speakers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
