OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck0000 (3V6M3AV)

Hello there,

I have a 1 TB SSD and I am thinking about adding an extra 2TB SSD with heatsink to my system. However, I read on the internet that some laptops do not have enough clearance, thus they can only accommodate SSDs without heatsink.

My question: Does OMEN 17 have enough clearance to add an SSD with heatsink?

Kind regards

Hi:

I would say that you won't be able to do that because according to the manual, the NVME SSD is housed inside a shield with a thermal pad.

See chapter 5, pages 32 & 33 of the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

So, I would imagine that you can install a 2 TB drive without a heatsink and use the HP factory mounting enclosure.
