I am writing to bring to your attention an issue with my HP VICTUS 16 laptop. After a recent driver update, the W, S, and X keys on my keyboard have stopped working. Prior to the update, the keyboard was functioning perfectly without any issues.

This problem is affecting my ability to use the laptop efficiently, especially for typing and general tasks. I have tried basic troubleshooting steps such as restarting the device and checking keyboard settings, but the issue still persists.

I kindly request you to look into this matter and provide a suitable solution at the earliest. Please let me know if any further information is required from my side.

Thank you for your support and assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Hi @King1567,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern to hear about the inconvenience you’re experiencing with your HP VICTUS 16 keyboard after the recent driver update. I completely understand how  it can be when essential keys stop working.

Here are a few steps you can try:

Rollback the Driver Update:

Go to Device Manager → Keyboards.

Right-click your keyboard driver → Properties → Driver tab → Roll Back Driver.

Restart your laptop and check if the keys start working again.

Update/Reinstall the Driver:

In Device Manager, right-click the keyboard driver and select Uninstall device.

Restart your laptop; Windows should automatically reinstall the default driver.

Alternatively, visit the HP Support website https://support.hp.com/ and download the latest keyboard driver for your model.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:

Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

Run a keyboard test to check if the hardware itself is functioning correctly.

Check for Windows Updates:

Sometimes compatibility issues are resolved with the latest Windows updates.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
