Hi @29F8-4A67-B8CC-

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reporting this so clearly—it sounds like your Victus 15-fa0000 is experiencing a frustrating lag spike during login, possibly tied to a background process or driver hiccup.

The brief flash of a command prompt window suggests something is initializing behind the scenes, which could be slowing down the transition from lockscreen to desktop.

Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help resolve this:

🛠️ Step-by-Step Fix for Login Lag & Optimization

1. Power Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware signals:

  • Shut down your laptop completely.
  • Unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug the adapter back in and power on.

2. Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or mismatched drivers can cause display lag:

3. Check Startup Apps

Too many background apps can delay desktop loading:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab and disable non-essential apps (like Discord, OneDrive, etc.).

4. Adjust Power Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Select High Performance or Ultimate Performance (if available).
  • Also check Settings > System > Power & Battery and set performance mode when plugged in.

5. BIOS Settings

Sometimes BIOS updates reset performance modes:

  • Restart and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Look for settings like Performance Mode, Dynamic Tuning, or Thermal Configuration.
  • Set them to Max Performance, then save and exit.

6. Disable Xbox Game Bar & Overlays

  • Go to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Game Bar and turn it off.
  • Also disable overlays from apps like Discord or GeForce Experience.

Let me know how it goes, and I’ll help you fine-tune further if needed. You’re doing the right thing by tackling this early! 💪
