Hi all, I do a fair bit of gaming on my HP Omen 15 laptop, however, my desk is not ideal for hosting off of my attached peripherals and external monitor (LG 22EA53). I was thinking about running the laptop with the lid closed and keeping it under my monitor riser to make space for everything and be more comfortable during extended play, but I've seen many mixed reviews on doing something like this. Many people claim that it's perfectly fine, as the air exhausts to the vents behind the machine, rather than through the keyboard. But others claim that it can still be damaging over time. Has anyone run a closed-lid setup for a decent duration that can shed some light on their results with this model or other HP Omen models specifically?
Secondly, if it's safe to run my system this way, I've noticed with the lid closed that basic functions like dragging windows around the screen of my external monitor seem to run a little choppy. With the lid open, the movements are fluid on the same monitor screen. Gaming, however, is perfectly fine with zero decrease in performance. Thoughts?

@Zagnew18, welcome to the forum.
I don't know if using the laptop with the lid closed will cause damage over time, but I simply don't do it. I normally leave the lid at least open enough to allow everything to function properly when connected to an external display. It doesn't seem appropriate to have the lid closed during gaming to me. I am certain that you will hear different answers on the subject, however. This is just one old_geekster's opinion.
