Came home to find the laptop dead , left it on charge - came back was completely off not charging or turning on . I’ve tried pretty much everything- holding the power button , CMOS reset and what not . Nothing seems to work . The charger is completely fine and works as I tested it on a different laptop . Something to do with the laptop . It’s quite new too - only 2 years old and in good condition. Not sure why this happened. Please can someone help me to fix this as I have a lot of important documents on there .

Hi @Danielk346,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this—it's stressful when a laptop suddenly stops work
- When you plug in the charger, does the charging light indicator on the laptop turn on at all, or is it completely unresponsive?
- Have you tried using a different power outlet to rule out any potential issues with the current one?
- Did the laptop show any signs of overheating, unusual noises, or screen flickering before it shut off?
Let's try these steps.
Remove devices and perform a hard reset
To determine whether you need to contact HP or troubleshoot startup issues, perform a hard reset.
Note: A hard reset does not affect data saved on your computer.
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
- Disconnect all nonessential devices such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
- Note:
- Do not disconnect your mouse, keyboard, or monitor.
- With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 20 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.
- Note:
- Be sure that you use the AC adapter that was shipped with the computer.

If you have performed all the steps mentioned above and still having issues, this could be a hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
