Hello, @Patatesezici

I understand how frustrating it can be when your laptop suddenly stops working. Let’s troubleshoot this issue step by step. Here are some potential solutions you can try:

Hard Reset:
Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve power-related issues. Follow these steps:
Unplug your laptop from the power outlet.
Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
Release the power button.
Plug the laptop back in and try turning it on.
Check RAM:
Faulty RAM can cause booting problems. Try reseating the RAM modules:
Turn off the laptop.
Remove the back cover (if possible) to access the RAM slots.
Take out the RAM modules.
Clean the connecting points using an eraser (gently rub the gold contacts).
Put the RAM back in place securely.
Turn on the laptop and check if it boots.
RTC Coin Cell Battery Reset:
The RTC (Real-Time Clock) battery maintains BIOS settings. Resetting it might help:
Unplug the laptop.
Open the laptop (if possible) to access the RTC coin cell battery (usually a small round battery on the motherboard).
Disconnect the RTC battery.
Wait for a few minutes.
Reconnect the RTC battery.
Reassemble the laptop.
Plug it back in and try turning it on.
Check for Blinking Codes:
If your laptop has blinking lights (such as the Caps Lock key), pay attention to them.
Refer to your laptop’s documentation to decode the blinking pattern. It might provide clues about the issue.
External Monitor Test:
Connect an external monitor to your laptop (if possible).
Turn on the laptop and see if the external monitor displays anything.
If it does, the issue might be with your laptop’s built-in display.

Remember to stay patient and methodical while troubleshooting.

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Best Regard,
Gregory Chavez

Hi @Patatesezici,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OMEN 17 laptop is having a power-related issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the laptop from any power source.
  • Remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on.

Check Power Supply:

  • Ensure that your power adapter and charging cable are working properly. Try using a different power adapter if you have one available.

Inspect for Loose Connections:

  • If you’re comfortable opening the laptop, check for any loose connections, especially around the RAM and hard drive. Reseating these components might help.

Check RAM:

  • If you have multiple RAM sticks, try booting with only one stick at a time. This can help identify if a RAM module is causing the issue.

Disconnect Peripherals:

  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external keyboard/mouse, etc.) and try booting the laptop.

Perform a BIOS Reset:

  • Sometimes a BIOS reset can resolve power issues. If the laptop shows any signs of power, try pressing Esc or F10 during startup to access the BIOS menu, then look for an option to reset or restore BIOS defaults.

Check for Beep Codes:

  • If your laptop emits any beeping sounds when trying to boot, note the pattern. Beep codes can indicate specific hardware issues.

Test with an External Monitor:

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor to check if the issue is with the laptop's screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
