Hi @AryanJhingade,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It sounds like your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 is experiencing intermittent charging issues, particularly under the strain of gaming, which could be due to various reasons like a faulty charger, overheating, or power management settings.

Let's try a few steps here.

Step 1: Check the Charger and Power Adapter

Inspect the Charger:

  • Touch: Feel the power adapter while it’s plugged in and charging the laptop. If it’s unusually hot, this might indicate overheating issues.
  • Look: Visually inspect the charger, cables, and connectors for any physical damage like frayed wires, bent connectors, or discoloration, which can affect charging.

Test with Another Charger:

  • If possible, use a different compatible HP charger to see if the issue persists. This helps identify if the charger is the problem.

Step 2: Examine the Power Port and Connections

  1. Inspect the Power Port:
    • Look: Check the laptop’s charging port for dust, debris, or damage. A loose connection can cause intermittent charging.
    • Touch: Gently wiggle the charger when it’s plugged in to see if the connection feels secure or if there’s any movement that might indicate a loose port.

Step 3: Monitor Laptop Temperature

  1. Check for Overheating:
    • Feel: Place your hand near the vents of the laptop to check for excessive heat.
    • Listen: Listen for fan noise. If the fans are running constantly or unusually loudly, the laptop may be overheating, which can cause the system to stop charging to protect itself.
  2. Use Temperature Monitoring Software:
    • Download a temperature monitoring tool like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check if the CPU or GPU is overheating during gaming sessions.
    • Aim to keep temperatures below 85°C for optimal performance.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @AryanJhingade,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Step 4: Check Power Settings and Battery Health

Inspect Power Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
  • Ensure you are using the High performance power plan, and review any settings that might affect charging, such as USB selective suspend or battery saver mode.

Run Battery Diagnostics:

  • Use HP Support Assistant:
    • Open HP Support Assistant, go to Diagnostics, and run a Battery Check to assess the battery’s health and performance.
  • Check for any battery errors or suggestions for calibration.

Step 5: Update Drivers and BIOS

Update BIOS:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your laptop model.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update to resolve any power management issues.

Update Battery and Chipset Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).
  • Expand Batteries, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Update driver.
  • Also, update any chipset drivers under System devices that could impact power delivery.

Step 6: Test Under Different Conditions

Test Without Gaming:

  • Run the laptop under normal usage without gaming to see if the charging issue occurs. This helps determine if gaming is specifically causing the problem.

Reduce Power Demand:

  • Lower the game settings or resolution to reduce power demand and observe if this improves charging stability.

Step 7: Inspect for Possible Power Management Conflicts

Disable Fast Startup:

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
  • Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable, and uncheck Turn on Fast Startup.

Reset Power Plans to Default:

  • In Power Options, select Restore default settings for this plan under your current power plan.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it could point to a deeper hardware problem, such as a failing battery, motherboard charging circuitry issues, or a damaged charging port that might need repair. If the problem persists, contacting HP phone support for further assistance or service may be necessary.

Keep me posted for further assistance
