Whenever I put my laptop into sleep mode or it enters the sleep mode due to inactivity, I can't wake it up. Whenever I try to wake it up, the screen remains black, the fans starts to rotate at very high rpm and I need to force shutdown it in order to work again. I bought HP Omen 16 in january 2024, and I have been facing some issues, this is one of them which I would need to fix soon. I saw a few other posts and some said to install MEI driver 9 or 10 but installing them gives me and error message saying "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements".
Also, if it helps, another issue is that even if I shut down my laptop, the battery screen usage will monitor in that shut down time and shows that screen was on all the 20+ hours, and I don't have a fix for that yet.

HI @Armyth07,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating issues with your HP Omen laptop. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve these problems.
- Update Drivers and BIOS: Ensure that all drivers and the BIOS are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause issues with sleep mode and other functions of the laptop. You can check for updates on the HP website or by using the HP Support Assistant software.
- Power Settings: Check your power settings to make sure they are configured correctly. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and ensure that your power plan is set to balanced or high performance.
- Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes Microsoft releases patches that address sleep mode issues.
- Disable Fast Startup: Sometimes fast startup can cause issues with waking from sleep mode. You can disable it by going to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)".
- Reset Power Settings: You can try resetting your power settings to their default values. Open Command Prompt as administrator and type the following command: powercfg /restoredefaultschemes.
- Check for Malware: It's possible that malware could be causing issues with your laptop's sleep mode. Run a full scan using your preferred antivirus software to check for any malicious programs.
As for the issue with the battery screen usage monitor showing that the screen was on during shutdown, that sounds like a software bug. You can try updating your graphics drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello, I tried the following and while talking to HP support, did all the necessary steps like resetting the power options, fast startup and all. The issue still persists. It is only with the sleep mode, for hibernation or shutdown, I am not facing any issue with waking my machine up. I do think that if the issue persists, I will have to reset the windows, but still hoping it does not go to that extent and fixes itself.
For the battery screen monitor issue, I uninstalled previous windows update, and now it is fixed.

Hello @Alden4 , The issue still persists and my laptop is not able to wake up from sleep.
Also, if it helps, there is no power management option for inbuilt keyboard and touchpad of the laptop, thus for trying to wake it up, I have to use usb connected devices.
