Hello,
Do you know if this is normal for an HP laptop?
I have an OMEN 17-db0108nf.
Please find the attached video.

Hi Vikram,
Thank you for your reply.
My issue is that my trackpad is loose—exactly like the one shown in this other video. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHY6_oatLuE ) I notice that even 8 years after the video was posted, HP still hasn't found a solution to fix this issue. I paid €1300 for this PC, and honnestly at that price, I didn't expect such a cheap-feeling trackpad.
I was wondering if this is a common issue with all HP Omen laptops, or if it's just mine?
Best,

Hi, did you end up finding a solution? Recently got my laptop, same series (17-db0000) and it has the same problem, not as bad as the video but still noticeable. Doesn't feel like the quality I was expecting for that price (especially with also the plastic creaking under pressure on the bottom left part, resting my wrist while typing is enough to hear it)
I don't know if it's just mine that is like that or a common thing on Omen laptops, I'm wondering if I should just return it...

Hi Aldena,
Yes, I found a solution and the problem disappeared.
I simply stuck a piece of cardboard under the bottom left corner of my laptop. The looseness went away immediately. At first, I thought I would have to keep the cardboard there forever, but last month I removed it and don’t ask me why but now the trackpad seems to have gone back to its proper position permanently. It’s been a month, and the issue hasn’t come back, thanks to this little trick. Maybe you can try it too.

Wow, thank you, it's working for me as well. It seems like it also reduces the issue of the chassis creaking on the bottom left area. I'm guessing there's a recurring manufacturing issue on this model which makes the trackpad not tight enough in the laptop. Hopefully this trick can permanently fix it for me too...
(Update 1 month later: the problem is still there for me if I remove the cardboard, so I'll keep it there for a bit longer, hoping I'd be able to remove it eventually...)
