Since the day I bought this gaming laptop, it has been delivering 60 FPS. However, recently, the FPS has dropped to 40. I would like to optimize the FPS to maximize performance, as this is a gaming laptop.

Hi @SM0209,
Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
-
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that all your drivers, especially those for your graphics card, are up-to-date. You can use Device Manager or visit the HP Support Page to download the latest drivers.
-
Update OMEN Gaming Hub:
- Download the latest version of the OMEN Gaming Hub from the Microsoft Store. This software can help manage performance settings more efficiently.
-
Windows Updates:
- Check for any pending Windows updates which can include performance improvements and optimizations.
-
Graphics Settings Optimization:
- Open the graphics settings and choose optimal layout suited for gaming, usually selecting "High performance" mode. This might be available through the Graphics Control Panel specific to your GPU (such as Intel or NVIDIA).
-
Game Settings:
- Lower the graphical settings in your games to reduce the load on the laptop and increase FPS. This can include lowering resolution, texture quality, or disabling additional effects like shadows and reflections.
-
Power Settings:
- Ensure that the power settings are set to "High performance". You can change these settings in the Control Panel under "Power Options".
-
Eliminate Background Processes:
- Close unnecessary applications running in the background that might be consuming CPU or GPU resources.
-
Cooling and Heat Management:
- Make sure your laptop is well-ventilated. Overheating can lead to thermal throttling, which may reduce performance.
-
Reset and Clean the System:
- Perform disk cleanup, and look for potential malware using antivirus software.
-
Disable VBS:
- Some features in HP applications like the OMEN Gaming Hub might not work properly if Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) is enabled. Disabling VBS can help improve performance for some features.
