Hi @Mourath,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing frustrating performance issues with your HP Victus 16 laptop, especially with the combination of high CPU usage and low FPS during gaming. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to address these problems.

  • Power Settings: Ensure your laptop is set to the "High Performance" power plan. This setting maximizes the performance of both the CPU and GPU. You can adjust this in the Windows Control Panel or through the power slider in the system tray.
  • Driver Updates: While you've mentioned that your drivers are up to date, double-check that you have the latest graphics drivers directly from NVIDIA's website. Sometimes, newer updates might not be included in the HP support page.
  • Background Processes: Investigate if any background applications are consuming excessive CPU resources. Use Task Manager to identify any processes that may be using significant CPU power and close them if they are not necessary.
  • Check for Overheating: Although your temperatures are currently low, it's essential to monitor them while gaming. If temperatures rise during gameplay, the CPU may throttle to prevent damage, causing performance drops. Tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner can help you keep track of your CPU and GPU temperatures.
  • Battery Boost Feature: Check your NVIDIA or AMD settings for any power-saving features like "Battery Boost," which can limit performance. Disabling this feature may help in maintaining consistent FPS during gaming,
  • Physical Cleaning: If your laptop is dusty, it could impede airflow, leading to overheating. Consider cleaning the vents and fans to ensure optimal cooling.
  • Malware Scan: Perform a thorough malware scan to rule out any malicious software that may be affecting your performance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
