No category for Monitors!!
I just purchased this monitor and it seems it cannot be changed to 75Hz when in 2560 x 1440, it can only be 60Hz. However if I change it to 1920 x 1080 then 75Hz is available. The monitor is advertised as 75Hz , so HP are not being truthful.

You might be right as the spec for the M27q does not list refresh but the sales advertisements certainty do.
There are other considerations that might apply. The PC or device you have the monitor connected to may not be able to support that resolution and refresh rate and as a result it does not show up an option.
I looked at HDMI and DisplayPort specs and there could be a problem with 1440p with HDMI. If your monitor is on HDMI it the spec needs to be 1.3-1.4b for 60 or 75hz to work
If you do a bandwidth calculation you get a value of 270gbits per seconds
That exceeds the speed of GTX-1070 which is 256gbts so that option would not show up in a system with that video card.
What system is the monitor connected to:?

Hi, I have a fairly recent HP i7 Pavilion 15-eg1002ns laptop and an old HP ENVY 17-j130ea Notebook PC.
Both do and show the same. I don't use them for gaming so the refresh rate is not that important to me, it's just that I was expecting 75hz and was a bit disappointed. I'm not sure whether to have it on 1920 x 1080 - 75Hz or leave it on 2560 x 1440 - 60Hz.
Sorry, also is there a way to switch HDMI inputs quicker in the menu?
Thanks

The notebooks probably do not support that combo of resolution and refresh.
Laptops that have native 1440 are nice to use when remoting in to access 1080 systems as the entire display can show up inside the laptops screen.
I do not know of any way to turn off an external monitor in windows. Disabling in the Device Manager does nothing on my system. Ideally the external monitor would automatically switch to a laptop that had a signal and disconnect from the laptop that no longer had an output.
You can use an HDMI switch but you need one that supports 4k to switch the 1440.

I mean the Auto-Switch Input in the monitor menu which is on. Sounds like this should be able to allow a quick switch between between HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 without several clicks on the screen buttons, but since I've read that The Auto-Switch Input function switches between the HDMI input and the DisplayPort input, shame there is no key combo to quickly switch between HDMI.
