Last week Friday, thieves cracked my car and took my bag that contains valuables. One of the valuables is my HP Omen i5 15.6 Inch 8GB 1TB GTX950M Gaming Laptop I bought in the UK early 2018 precisely from Argos at the Angel Street Sheffield. The lappy contains a lot of important tools/apps I installed when I was doing my PhD in UK.
My questions are,
- is there a way I can track this laptop?
- Again, the laptop carton and associated documents where I could have gotten the laptop serial and IMEI numbers were thrown away when I was leaving the UK last year to reduce luggage size. The receipt sent to me via email did not contain serial and IMEI numbers of the lappy. I called the Argos Sheffield past Saturday (15th) about these numbers, but they said that they don't include them on their receipts, that I should contact HP. I have used the Catalogue number: 730/7823 on the receipt to find Manufacturer's number: 15-AX009NA on the argos-support.co.uk. Any idea on how I can go about getting the laptop serial and IMEI numbers? I guess these numbers will be helpful if the lappy is traceable.
Thanks and regards.

Sorry to hear of this misfortune.
To answer specifically...
1. Unless you installed a third party anti theft tracking software like Prey or LoJack. There will be NO way of tracking your laptop. If HP had a secret way of tracking all laptops, lawsuits would ensue, im sure.
2. When I purchase anything of value, I copy the SN numbers and take a photo of the item. Then save it to the cloud for storage later, just in case this happens. With out it, no one will be able to know what you have. Did you Register the laptop with HP for its warranty? If so, HP might be able to look up the SN number, no guarantees and Im not an employee.
I will see if a rep can contact you to make things easier...
Edit: I was informed that HP cannot/will not help with stolen products. You must have your information kept yourself and work with local law enforcement.
