Pavillion Gaming 15 2018
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the Pavillion Gaming laptop, its about 10 months old. It runs on i7-8750H and Nvidea Geforce GTX 1050Ti.

It does heat up a lot after playing games for about 45-60 min. But there is no thermal throttling as such.

The only problem is that it stops charging and shows "Plugged in Not Charging" and the charging usually resumes only after laptop cools down.

In the first few months this wasnt noticealble.Laptop used to charge to 100% even while gaming.

After few months it was noticeable, but charging used to resume after some time.

Now I dont game a lot, and neither am I using the laptop much for last few months. Yet the laptop doesnt charge normally, it charges to some level then pauses and shows "Plugged in Not Charging", again after some time usually after running the battery diagonostics for a few times, resumes charging.

This happens even when the laptop is idle and not being used at all.

only one thing common is that laptop feels a bit warm every time it stops charging.

Even my full charge capacity keeps fluctuating, it has reduced to 46Whr recently. It was 48WHr when bought and kept fluctuating from 47,48,49,50,51. But 46 is least and has happened recently. The design capacity is 52Whr.

Please find me a solution for the Plugged in Not CHarging problem.

It is purely software issue.Because battery is fine and new used just 33% of rated cycles. Even the power adaptor is fine, its the 150W one.Even Battery diagonostics and battery report shows battery normal.

Hello @mandarpatil

Sorry, but just because the diagnostics shows the battery is ok and the fact that the battery is only a certain recycle rate, does not mean its ok.

About the only thing you could try is uninstall the ACPI Battery from the device manager and reboot. The battery will reinstall on boot.

IF that does not work, you need to contact HP Support for a warranty issue and let them take a look at it. They will most likely have to replace the battery.

Im not saying because of diagonistics. The battery discharges properly .It also charges fast most of the times but something restricts its charging every time the laptop is at peak performance.

Only at Peak performance.  I really wouldnt know what could be happening unless the charger is a little weak when your hardware is at its highest demand.

All I can suggest is to contact HP Support and ask what they can do for you.
