Screenshot 2025-05-09 151317.pngScreenshot 2025-05-09 151349.pngScreenshot 2025-05-09 151424.pngMy camera suddenly stopped working after an update in HP OMEN 15. Tried updating the drivers but no change. When I open the camera app it is showing the error code 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>. The camera is on in privacy and security and all permissions are granted. In Device Manager the camera is present in hidden list. Tried many times to update the driver but failed and I finally uninstalled the driver. Now the camera is not present in Device Manager. Help me to download camera drivers, install them and also work my webcam normally.

@_____JB_____, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

From your screenshots and issue, the error 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached> and absence of your camera in Device Manager (even after uninstalling) strongly suggest a hardware detection failure,
most likely caused by a recent update or driver conflict.

Here's a full step-by-step recovery guide:

Check BIOS Camera Toggle

  • Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc, F10, or Del during boot).
  • Navigate to Advanced > Built-In Device Options.
  • Look for "Integrated Camera" or similar.
  • Ensure it’s enabled, then save and exit (F10).

Scan for Hardware Changes

Since the camera is no longer visible in Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Click on Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  • If the camera reappears under "Imaging Devices" or "Cameras," proceed to install the driver.
  • If still missing, proceed to the next step.

Manually Install HP Camera Driver

HP uses Realtek or SunplusIT camera modules in OMEN series. Follow these steps:

1. Download the driver:

  • Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your model: HP OMEN 15 (more accurate with full model like 15-ek0019tx).
  • Select Windows 11, then check under Driver – Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices or Driver – Camera.
  • If you see something like Realtek IR Camera Driver or SunplusIT Camera Driver, download it.

If not available, here are direct links for common camera drivers used in OMEN laptops:

SunplusIT Camera Driver for Windows 11 (SP111276)

Realtek Camera Driver for Windows 11 (SP112395)

2. Install the driver:

  • Run the downloaded .exe file.
  • Restart your laptop.

Enable Camera via Registry (if needed)

Sometimes Windows updates disable devices silently.

  1. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform
  3. Right-click and create a new DWORD (32-bit) value:
    Name it: EnableFrameServerMode
    Set value to 0
  4. Restart your PC.

Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

To rule out hardware failure:

Turn off your laptop.

Turn it on and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open diagnostics.

Select Component Tests > Camera.

Run the test and check if the hardware is detected.

If Still Not Working:

  • Try reinstalling HP Support Assistant and running updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Tried all the above steps, but still it is not working. But as of now after doing these steps there is small hope that is my camera turns on for a second after every restart or shutdown. But after a second it still shows the same error. Also in device manager the camera shows as hidden.Screenshot 2025-05-11 121224.png

@_____JB_____, @Max3Aj is away for now, however, I'm @zoey7886 and I'll be happy to help you out!

Thanks for the update and for trying all the recommended steps — I know this has been frustrating, and I appreciate your patience.

Since your camera briefly powers on for a millisecond during startup, that’s actually a useful clue. It suggests that the hardware might still be functional, but something—possibly a driver conflict or a firmware/BIOS issue—is preventing it from staying active.

Here’s what I recommend next:

1. BIOS Update
Even if your BIOS settings are fine, updating the BIOS itself can sometimes resolve low-level hardware communication issues.

Visit HP Drivers & Downloads

Enter your full model number (e.g., OMEN 15-ek0019tx), and download the latest BIOS update under the BIOS section.

Follow the instructions carefully to update.

2. Reinstall Chipset Drivers
The chipset controls communication between hardware and the OS.

Still on the same HP drivers page, download the latest Intel Chipset Installation Utility or similar under the Driver-Chipset category.

Install, then reboot.

3. Windows Optional Updates
Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates

Check if any camera or hardware driver updates are listed and install them.

4. External USB Webcam Test (Temporary workaround)
If this is urgent and you need a webcam for meetings, you can try plugging in an external USB webcam to confirm OS-level camera support is still working.

Did we resolve the issue? If yes, Please consider marking this post as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" to give us a helpful vote - your feedback keeps us going!
