@Zoq, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

This sounds like a power delivery or thermal protection issue that has now possibly escalated into hardware failure. Let's break it down and go step by step.

What's Likely Happening

Random Shutdowns During Gaming
This usually points to:

  • Overheating (CPU/GPU temps too high → system shuts down to protect itself).
  • Power Delivery Issues (your charger can’t supply enough wattage for the system under load).
  • Faulty battery or power rail inside the laptop.

Using a Lower Wattage Charger Helped Temporarily
This may have tricked the system into running cooler (lower performance = less heat), but it also means:

  • You were undervolting the system unintentionally.
  • Long-term use of an underpowered charger can damage motherboard components, battery charging logic, or VRMs (voltage regulators).

Now Laptop Won’t Turn On
If holding the power button does nothing at all (no lights, no fans, no screen):

  • The laptop may be stuck in a power protection state.
  • Or, more seriously, the motherboard or VRM may have failed.

Please try these steps,
Hard Reset the Laptop

  • Unplug charger, remove any connected devices.
  • Hold the power button for 30–60 seconds.
  • Plug in the original HP charger (not the low watt one).
  • Try to turn it on.

Check for Any LED Activity

Charging LED on the side or keyboard?

  • No lights at all = serious power issue.
  • Lights but no screen/fans = possibly stuck in hibernation or BIOS-level failure.

Try an External Display

  • Connect to an HDMI monitor/TV and power it on.
  • If external screen shows anything, it’s a screen or BIOS display issue.

Try Win + B or Win + V + Power (BIOS Recovery)

  • With the laptop off, press and hold Windows + B (or Windows + V), then press and hold the Power button for 2–5 seconds.
  • Wait for any beeps, fan spin, or screen flicker.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
