Hi @Priyal_04, Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
I understand that your Ctrl+Tab shortcut, which is commonly used to switch tabs in browsers and apps, is no longer working on your HP 15.6" Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV) running Windows 11. Since it was working until two days ago, let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot and restore its functionality.
Check if the issue is app-specific
- Try using Ctrl+Tab in different apps:
- Web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
- File Explorer (if multiple tabs are open)
- Notepad++ or other tabbed apps
- If it works in some apps but not others, the issue may be app-specific. Try restarting or reinstalling the affected app.
Test the Ctrl and Tab keys individually
- Open Notepad and press:
Ctrl→ Does it trigger any shortcut (e.g., Ctrl+S)?Tab→ Does it insert a tab space?
- If either key doesn’t respond, the physical keyboard may be the issue.
Check for stuck modifier keys or accessibility settings
- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard
- Turn Sticky Keys and Filter Keys OFF
- Also check Ease of Access Center in Control Panel
Update or reinstall keyboard drivers
- Press
Win + X→ Select Device Manager - Expand Keyboards → Right-click your keyboard → Choose Uninstall device
- Restart your laptop to reinstall the driver automatically
Check for recent Windows updates or app changes
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History
- If any updates were installed 2 days ago, they might have affected input behavior
- You can try uninstalling the update or performing a System Restore to a point before the issue started
Try an external USB keyboard
- If Ctrl+Tab works on an external keyboard, the built-in keyboard may be faulty
