Hi @Gabriel136,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When an HP Pavilion laptop won't turn on and has no power button light, especially after a water spill, it's crucial to troubleshoot and diagnose the problem carefully. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you.

Safety Precautions

  1. Unplug the laptop from any power source.
  2. Avoid pressing the power button repeatedly, as it can cause more damage.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Disconnect All Peripherals:

  • Remove any connected devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.).

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the laptop from the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds. This helps drain any residual power in the laptop.

Check for Physical Damage:

  • Inspect the laptop for any signs of corrosion or damage due to the water spill.

Drying the Laptop:

  • Although a week has passed, there could still be moisture inside the laptop. Place the laptop in a dry, warm place for 24-48 hours. Alternatively, you can use silica gel packets or uncooked rice to absorb moisture (place the laptop in a large bag with the drying agent).

Attempt to Power On:

  • After ensuring the laptop is dry, reconnect the charger and try to power it on.

Advanced Troubleshooting

If the laptop still doesn't turn on, the issue might be more severe. Here are additional steps:

Check the Charger and Power Source:

  • Ensure the charger is functioning properly. Test it with another compatible device if possible.
  • Try a different power outlet.

Battery Issues:

  • Since the battery is non-removable, you can try the following:
    • Connect the charger and look for any indicator lights.
    • Some HP models have a small pinhole reset button (battery reset). Check the user manual or online documentation for your specific model to see if this applies.

Internal Inspection:

  • If you're comfortable opening the laptop, you can check for visible signs of water damage or corrosion on the motherboard. This step requires careful handling and proper tools.
  • Disconnect the internal battery (if accessible) and reconnect it after a few minutes.

By following these steps, you can determine the cause of the problem and decide on the best course of action to get your HP Pavilion laptop back up and running.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
