The keyboard light comes on and off at will.  The f4 / Keyboard function light works sometimes, but only for a few minutes, and the keyboard light starts going crazy again.  *NOTE, I happen to also have a USB pre audio preamp occasionally connected to this laptop.  Perhaps its a driver issue?  I tried updating all drivers, even uninstalled and re-installed, nothing.  Updated the HP Support UEFI, updated to all the latest Windows updates.  Nothing.  Ran a full virus scan, same thing.

It's very very frustrating, as it drains the battery completely and quickly - essentially making the laptop useless unles it stays plugged in.  Not to mention needlessly cycling the battery up and down for no reason.  This computer is only a year and a half old, but is out of warranty.  HP support is of now help so far, except for suggesting their tech support subscriptions.  I'm pretty technically adept, but there is ZERO guidance in the forums.  I can't be the only person experiencing this.  Please help, thank you.

What is your 15-fa0xxx machine ? It may have one USB-A port which can supply power during off and/or sleep. This port allow you to charge your phone or tablet when your computer is off. Does it have another USB-A port, please move KB and mouse to other port.
