My laptop won't start/power on.

The power button just blinks and nothing happens.

Only got it a few days ago, any quick fix without taking apart the battery

Hi @Kaybee1865,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your laptop won’t power on and the power button is blinking, here are a few quick fixes you can try:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the charger and any peripherals.
  2. Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This can reset the internal circuitry.

2. Check the Power Adapter

  • Ensure the power adapter is plugged in securely and the charging light (if any) is on. Try a different outlet if possible.

3. Check for Overheating

  • Make sure the laptop isn’t overheating. If it feels hot, let it cool down for a bit before trying to power it on again.

4. Try Booting in Safe Mode

  • If it shows the initial logo, try pressing F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly to access Safe Mode.

5. Reset the RAM (if applicable)

  • If you have easy access to the RAM, reseating it can help, but this might involve opening the laptop.

6. Check for BIOS Recovery

  • Some HP laptops have a BIOS recovery mode. Try pressing Windows + B while powering on to see if it enters recovery.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
