Hi @sunny1626,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A loud screeching sound from your HP Omen laptop's fan can indicate mechanical or operational issues. Here's how you can address it.
Check for Physical Obstructions
- Inspect the Fan Blades: Dust, debris, or foreign objects can cause noise. Ensure you’ve thoroughly cleaned the fan.
- Re-seat the Fan: If you’ve recently opened the laptop, ensure the fan is securely fastened in its position.
Update the BIOS and Drivers
- Update BIOS: Outdated firmware can lead to improper fan control. Download the latest BIOS update from the HP Support website.
- Update System Drivers: Use the HP Support Assistant or manually update critical drivers, particularly for the thermal management system.
Adjust Power and Fan Settings
- Set Performance Mode: Open the OMEN Gaming Hub and switch to a quieter mode, such as "Comfort" or "Quiet."
- Modify Fan Speeds: Check if the OMEN Gaming Hub lets you manually reduce fan speeds.
Thermal Paste Replacement
- Over time, thermal paste can degrade, leading to increased heat and higher fan speeds. Consider replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU to improve heat dissipation.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
