Hi @PC1011,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your device screen flickering!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I see you're still facing the flickering issue with your HP Victus 16. To help you better, could you please let me know what steps you've already tried? That will help me avoid repeating things you’ve already done and focus on the best solution for you.
Update or Reinstall Graphics Driver
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager from the menu.
- Expand the Display Adapters section.
- Right-click on your graphics card (usually Intel HD Graphics or NVIDIA/AMD depending on your model), and choose Update Driver.
- In the pop-up window, select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If it finds any updates, allow it to install. If no updates are found, you can try reinstalling the driver:
- Right-click on the graphics card, select Uninstall Device, and confirm.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the correct drivers.
- If not, you can manually download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
Adjust Display Refresh Rate
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
- Scroll down and click on Advanced Display Settings.
- Under the Refresh Rate, change it to 60Hz (or try a different value if 60Hz is already selected).
- Apply the settings and check if the flickering persists.

Disable Hardware Acceleration
- Open Google Chrome (or any application using hardware acceleration).
- Click on the three dots in the upper-right corner and select Settings.
- Scroll down and click on Advanced to reveal more options.
- Under the System section, toggle off Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Restart the browser or the app and check if the flickering issue is resolved.
Boot into Safe Mode
- Press Windows + R and type msconfig, then press Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab and check the box next to Safe Boot.
- Click OK and then Restart your laptop.
- Your laptop will boot into Safe Mode, which disables third-party software and only runs essential drivers.
- Check if the flickering issue still happens. If it doesn’t, it may be caused by a third-party program.
- To exit Safe Mode, repeat steps 1 and 2, but uncheck the Safe Boot box and restart.
Check for BIOS Update
- Go to the HP Support website: HP Support.
- Enter your laptop's model number (e.g., Victus 16-s0000) in the search bar.
- Under the Software and Drivers section, check if there’s a BIOS update available for your system.
- If there is an update, download and install it according to the instructions on the HP website.
- Once the BIOS update is complete, restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.
Please try these steps and let me know how it goes! If the issue is still there or if you need further help, feel free to contact me anytime. I'm here to assist you!
