I have an OMEN by HP-15-dc0149tx. On the computer are 2 stickers, one for intel core i7 8th Gen, the other for a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX. In task manager, only 1 GPU, the intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 shows, with the NVIDIA being unable to be found anywhere. I have looked in device manager, enabled hidden ones etc, I've checked the BIOS, I've tried the omen gaming hub for the graphics switcher however it doesn't seem to exist for me. I've tried downloading the NVIDIA app for it to tell me that it couldn't find anything, and I've tried installing NVIDIA drivers only for it to just not work.

If the Nvidia GPU does not appear anywhere in Device Manager (even under hidden devices), and the Nvidia installer says no compatible hardware was found, then Windows is probably not detecting the GPU at all.
On the OMEN 15-dc0149tx, the Intel UHD 630 is always active because the laptop uses Nvidia Optimus hybrid graphics, so seeing only the Intel GPU is not normal if the GTX GPU is healthy.
A few things to try:
- In Device Manager:
- View > Show hidden devices
- Expand:
- Display adapters
- System devices
- PCI Express Root Complex
- Look for anything with:
- yellow warning icons
- "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter"
- unknown devices
- In BIOS:
- Load BIOS defaults
- Save and reboot
- If there is a "Hybrid Graphics", "Switchable Graphics", or "Discrete Graphics" option, test both modes
- Completely remove graphics drivers:
- Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode
- Then install:
- Intel graphics driver first
- Nvidia driver second
- Prefer HP-provided graphics drivers initially instead of generic Nvidia drivers
- Check whether the GPU appears in hardware tools:
- GPU-Z
- HWiNFO64
- Device Manager > Resources by connection
If none of those tools can detect the Nvidia GPU at all, then the GTX chip may have failed electrically or become disconnected from the motherboard.
Unfortunately, on this OMEN model the GPU is soldered to the motherboard, so a failed GPU generally means motherboard repair or replacement.
