I want to upgrade the 256MB NVME SSD in my OMEN By HP Laptop 15-Dc0xxx. What specs for a larger NVME do I need to look for? Thank you

You can use standard M.2 NVMe SSD's with physical format 2280 (22mm width and 80mm long) from all reputable vendors. I think your current drive is from Samsung (which is similar to my HP Omen 15-dc0071tx)

As mentioned above, you can use standard M.2 NVMe SSD's for example
