Hi @abc214,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you need to reinstall the correct camera driver for your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15. Here’s how you can find and install the right driver.

Check Device Manager:

  • Press Win + X and select "Device Manager."
  • Look under "Imaging Devices" or "Cameras" for your laptop's camera.
  • Right-click on the camera device and select "Update driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software." Windows will try to find and install the appropriate driver.

Download from HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Enter your laptop’s model number (HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15) and search for drivers.
  • Look for the camera or imaging device driver in the list of available drivers.
  • Download and install the driver from there.

Intel Driver Update:

  • If you installed an Intel driver by mistake, you might need to uninstall it first.
  • Go to Device Manager, right-click the camera device, and select "Uninstall device." Check the box to delete the driver software for the device if prompted.
  • Restart your laptop and then try installing the correct driver from HP Support.

Windows Update:

  • Sometimes, Windows Update can find the correct driver.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @abc214,

Thank you for your response,

If you're having trouble finding a dedicated camera driver for your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15 on the HP Support website, it might be because the camera typically uses a generic driver that comes with Windows.

Here's what you can try:

Update Windows Camera Driver via Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  • Right-click on your camera and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

This will check for any available drivers from Microsoft's servers.

Reinstall the Camera Driver

  • In Device Manager, right-click on your camera and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the correct driver.

HP Support Assistant

  • If you haven't tried already, download and run HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
  • It can automatically detect your device and suggest updates for drivers, including the camera.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
