Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa2000 (A8VY0AV)

Here's your problem in paragraph form:

I have an HP Victus 15 laptop that I purchased on October 4th, with the warranty expiring the very next day. This morning, I turned it on at 4:00 AM for a Zoom class. After joining the class and using it for about 5 minutes, the laptop suddenly powered off without any warning. When I tried to turn it back on, there was no response at all — no lights, no fan noise, no screen activity. I then connected the charger to check if it was a battery issue, but there was still zero indication, not even a charging LED. I confirmed the charger itself is working fine by testing it separately. I also tried a hard reset by unplugging the charger and holding the power button, but nothing changed. Since the warranty expires tomorrow, I need to get a support ticket logged with HP today to ensure the issue is covered, especially since this is a known failure pattern reported by other Victus 15 users — typically caused by a motherboard power-circuit fault or battery failure resulting in complete power loss even when connected to a working charger.

Hi @Thanusayan8787

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. Based on the details shared, the HP Victus 15 experienced a sudden shutdown and now shows no signs of power, including no charging LED activity even with a verified working adapter.

Since the warranty is set to expire very soon, it is important that this issue is documented with HP while the device remains under warranty coverage.

Before proceeding further, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter and any connected devices.
  2. Press and hold the power button continuously for 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect only the original HP charger directly to the laptop and check if the charging LED illuminates.
  4. If there is still no response, press and hold the Windows + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds. Release the Power button while continuing to hold Windows + B for up to 40 seconds and observe whether the system attempts BIOS recovery.
  5. If available, try another compatible HP power adapter with the same specifications to rule out a power delivery concern.

To better understand the condition, please confirm:

  • Does the charging LED illuminate at any time when the adapter is connected?
  • Is the adapter's power indicator light remaining steady?
  • Have you noticed any heat, odor, or unusual behavior before the shutdown?
  • What is the exact product number (p/n) from the bottom label of the notebook?

Since the unit currently shows no power indications, the results of the above checks will help determine whether the issue is related to power delivery, the battery, BIOS recovery, or an internal hardware component.

Given the warranty status, I recommend ensuring the case details are recorded with HP today and keeping proof of purchase available for reference.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
