HP Pavilion Gaming 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greeting all,

I received my Gaming 15 laptop yesterday and am thrilled with the construction, appearance and performance. I removed the optane and added a NMVe PCIe 256 boot drive and a 1 TB ssd for storage. I also added another 8 gb of ram so I'm all set, the machine simply flies. I have the  Nvidia 1050 Ti  but I don't see any software to tweak the display, I have to use the Intel 620 for that, this doesn't seem correct. Also the Nvidia program that's in my control panel only has 3 areas on to which you can tweak, Adjust image setting with preview, Manage 3D effects and  Set PhysX configuration. Am I missing something? lastly if I diable the Intel 620 the screen (display) gets very large. It also gives me a message that there's no connection to the 1050 Ti. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hello @Jerseyguy61

It would really help us to help you better if you posted the full model or product number of your pavilion.

You would want to open the HP Support Assistant to search for updates, assuming you reinstalled Windows with the HP Media. An update might give you the other options.

Or you could install the latest Nvidia drivers directly from Nvidia, but doing so might remove the ability to use the switchable graphics of the built in Intel card. Its best to use the HP drivers in your case.

Edit your last post and remove the serial number for your security please.

This is the drivers page for your model...

I have the drivers but there is no software for the video card such as MSI afterburner etc. Do you need to use the intel software? I sure hope not, it prohibits any tweaking beyond color, contrast and brightness.  As I mentioned earllier, the Nvidia control panel as but three options.

Obviously you have drivers installed, but I have no way of knowing what you have since Im not there to see your system. Ergo why I pointed to your drivers page. HP isnt going to post software from other makers like MSI Afterburner.

If the Nvidia control panel is missing options, it might be a limitation of those drivers by HP for your model that I don't know about.

There is only one other way I know of to re-enable the Nvidia options.

Clean install the Nvidia drivers directly from the Nvidia website. As I pointed out earlier, it will probably disable the switchable graphics and will only run on the Nvidia card. The disadvantage would be that running on the 1050 ti always will draw more power from your battery than the intel card will.

If you do this, then first enable Windows Restore Points (they are disabled by default). Then create a restore point of your current setup. If you decide to go back after the update, you can revert to that restore point.

System Restore Points (Windows 10, 😎

Download the latest Nvidia driver directly from Nvidia and run the installer. Do a clean install when it asks.

Hope that helps.

Greetings Photoray002,

I did what you suggested and still the same results. I did some research and the Ti only kicks in when the graphics are of a elevated state. For mundane viewing it drops into the Intel 620.  Thank you for all your assistance.
