@ahmadbagja28

Recommended specs for for a machine to be able to use Oculus Rift S

  • Graphics Card : NVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480 or greater
  • Alternative Graphics Card : NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290 or greater
  • CPU: Intel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or greater
  • Memory: 8GB+ RAM
  • Video Output: DisplayPort™ 1.2 / Mini DisplayPort (with adapter included in the box)
  • USB Ports: 1x USB 3.0 port
  • OS: Windows 10

Both Omen machines have much higher specs and BOTH of them have  Mini DisplayPort™

I believe they are compatible. From my view, the 15 DH0105TX is better and more expensive than the 15 DC1077TX.

Yes, but does the USB 3.1 connected to the RTX 2060? Or it's connected to the CPU?

Some people told me that it's important to know where do 3.1 usb port goes to. If it's connected to the CPU, the Oculus Rift S won't work.

Any suggestions?

@ahmadbagja28

RTX 2060 is a video card, it won't connect to USB ports.

Why ?

@ahmadbagja28  You mean - does the Thunderbolt USB-C connector link to the RTX 2060 graphics or the integrated graphics of the CPU?

It only runs off of the 2060 card. Those laptops with 1060/2060 or higher graphics card do not support the integrated CPU graphics, so that is disabled completely.

With that said, Banhien is right about the 15-dh0105tx having a more powerful CPU, has more memory and more SSD capacity installed. They will both run VR headsets since the both have Thunderbolt.

sorry my bad, yes, the RTX 2060 didn't have a USB port.

And secondly, actually don't know, but someone on reddit told me that he had a laptop and his thunderbolt port is wired to his integrated GPU (picture below):

and he told me to make sure that the thunderbolt port goes to the dedicated GPU not the integrated one (picture below) :

so yeah, I don't know the scientific answer to that, just from other who sadly experiencing that problem.

oh well, so it's safe then.

thank your very much for the answer!

and yes I agreed to Mr. Banhien too about the specs of those laptops.

Now, I can buy the HP Omen without hesitate.

Thank you!

(but, still I'm waiting if someone has tested the Oculus Rift S with HP OMEN DH0105TX and DC1077TX and see how it performs)
