OMEN 15t-ek000 Laptop (2020) and HP Omen Accelerator eGPU?

HP Recommended
OMEN 15t-ek000 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I got the new HP Omen 15 and it's really nice. So far it's a great laptop for gaming and productivity stuff.

I have also been using an HP Omen Accelerator for the last year or so with a Lenovo Yoga 720. One of the reasons I got the new HP Omen 15 is because, I assumed, it would work well with the Accelerator, but that does not appear to be the case at all.

It's all kinds of glitchy and the computer won't recognize the Accelerator's software at all making switching back and forth between the device and internal GPU impossible. Worse, eventually it decides that the laptops screen should just be turned off permanently and it'll do that continually even without the Accelerator plugged in after restarting forcing a factory reset.

This is a long shot but does anyone have experience with this new Omen and the Accelerator? Again, I'm completely confused as to why the new Omen laptop struggles with the Omen's own eGPU enclosure.

(And yes this is the Intel core i7 version with Thunderbolt 3)

Any help appreciated. I'd hate to have to buy a new eGPU unit.

@GeoPDX,

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the Omen accelerator when using it with the Omen computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver on the computer and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, then check for firmware updates for the Omen accelerator and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
