Hello @ALREADYNAMED

Your system gets up to 80C within 10 minutes after startup (idle?), but if you start a game, the system runs around 45-60C?

Is this correct?

You need to see what processes are running in the background when it gets so hot.

Open the Task Manager (ctrl/alt/del), click on the CPU column to show the highest percentages on top of the list first.

Post a screen shot of what you see.

Actually you got me wrong, maybe because of my language.

At idle(startup) the pc is at 45-60°c but on playing games it goes on in between 80-90°c whereas the fan speeds as mentiond are not in a sync..both have different speeds while on load.

OK got ya.

Go ahead and post your findings in the Task Manager anyway so we can see whats taking up CPU after boot up.

Hey there. Also on Hp 17-an012dx. Same as tweaks. I found the drivers from HP only were catalyst. They had no relive(recording) or chill (frame rate toggle) per game. There was a global chill but you could not set the numbers specifically. I messed first time treating amd like nvidia and installed the rx580 driver from amds website. I could relive and record but playing quake champs above 120fps was overheating and shutting down. I reinstalled the amd drivers from hp website instead of amds website. Everything worked except i couldnt do any of the cool stuff. After the thermal framework update and the f.15 bios update windows released v1803 for win 10. Microsoft installed the drivers the way i wanted some how. I havent used DDU and had switched back and forth alot trying to get it how i wanted. This may have led to what i have now. Some how i am using adrenaline radeon software instead of catalyst. But some how I have the Hp driver packaging under software tab in system settings in radeon settings. Look and see if that long number has HP on the end. I can use relive to record and can stream directly to twitch if i want. I can set exactly what frame rates i want to toggle between using the chill hotkey for each game. I have no update option but that is fine. I game on my lunch break everyday. I hit 144+ fps on quake champs with low settings at 1080p. We need a discord for this exact laptop. I dont know how my drivers ended up this way but everything is exactly as I want it. I havent hit over 90c in a while. No random shut downs like it was in the beginning.

Hi, I recently bought the Omen 17 with I7 9750H + RTX 2070. Here's what I did to achieve max. performance and min. heat.

Pls. note - whatever you do, it's on your own risk - however undervolting usually should not harm your system. If you go to far it just reboots and loads the defualt settings.

1. (and this is most important) - replace thermal paste on both the CPU and GPU. It's a shame what HP does at a 2k€ maschine. The thermal paste is of very poor quality and applied too thick. Takes some time and alcohol to get it clean again.

Re-pasting gave me between 10-20 degrees of less heat(!!!)

2. In Omen Command Center set Power-Settings to max.

3. Install and run Throttlestop (see settings below)

4. On the FIVR Tab offset CPU Core and CPU Cache by -150.4mV (it works fine on my maschine however it you're receiving crashes, you can go down to -140mV or even -125mV).

5.  Open the TPL tab - this is the most important one. Set Long Power Max to 60 Watt (this only works it you followed step 2, otherwise you're limited to 45 Watts). Short Power Max can be set higher, but this does not make a difference for me, it just increases heat and Throtteling)

With those settings, my system runs stable and quite. Cinebench R20 gives me a score of 2788 - which is significant higher than the 22xx with default settings. Temparature stays around 70-75 when playing COD. Even with Cinebench and other Stress Tests (AIDA64) temperature hardly exceeds 80-85.
