Dear HP,
I have a worrying problem, I've had my OMEN by HP - 17-w101nx for about 2 years now. I have noticed that the screen does not fold down and close properly due to a big bulge to the right of the mouse pad. It is very big and quite worrying, I feel that it may be the battery. Is the battery located somewhere in that vicinity? If it is, is there a chance of explosion? Why is it bulging, why is it so big?
I live in Saudi Arabia, far from any service centers so I doubt they can get it fixed, and my warranty is expired. I was wondering if I could just remove the battery and have the Laptop run on power for the rest of its life?
Please help very worried,
Kindest,

Hello @rImbo
Yes, it would be your battery that has swelled up and sounds like its quite bad. I would absolutely remove it and run on the power cord only. It wont hurt your laptop to do so. HP doesnt sell the battery replacements anyway.
Here is the manual that explains how to access the battery. Its not necessarily easy, but can be done if you have a little patients.

Hope that helps.
