HP Omen 15-Dc1057nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm, finding HP Omen 15-Dc1057nr slow while using Magix Vegas Movie Studio 16 and wish to upgrade the GPU from GTX 1650 to RTX 2070 or later. Please advise. Thank you.

You're very welcome.

Below is the link to the service manual.

If you look at chapter 6, there is a list of system boards with the applicable graphics adapters.

Replacing the system board is the only way to upgrade the internal graphics adapter.

There is no procedure to remove and replace the graphics adapter by itself.

I suggest you start a new post regarding the use of an external GPU, because I do not know the answer to it.

Hi:

The graphics adapter is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

The only way to upgrade the graphics, would be to replace the motherboard with one listed in your notebook's service manual that may come with better graphics.

If you could find the part, it would probably cost as much or more than buying a new notebook with the better graphics already included.

Thank you for replying.

I saw several Omen Laptops mentioned as upgradable to RTX on HP website.

Can the external RTX GPU be plugged in via thunderbolt/USB 3 port on this laptop?

Thank you for the link to authentic service manual.

I ended-up making few changes to omen/15-dc1057nr

  • Replaced current NVIDIA gaming driver with studio driver.
  • Configured OBS/Vegas Movie Studio to use NVIDIA gpu.
  • Upgraded RAM to 32 GB. Link below for exact part match.

And it works like a breeze.!!!! 🙂

I shall make another inquiry for external GPU in a new thread - may be ?!
For now, I'm good with above.
