Hp omen 15 ek-000

Hi there, my ek-000 from 2020 has died.

I have the ek-000 2020 omen 15 with i7 and 2060 rtx.

No power seems to cycle the motherboard on power-key press. Adapter plugged in with battery shows orange light for charging and when pressing the power button a short white light shows on the power-key and then disappears. No fan power up or display/keyboard etc, dead silent. Tried removing battery holding power to discharge and then replugging only into adapter, same thing except solid white light at input.

I’ve tried reseating drives ram, fans, and all motherboard cables.

I would hate for this laptop to have burnt out from very delicate use under very light loads and careful ventilation. Always cleaned with a wrist band ground and using grounding non static generating tools.

I noticed during disassembly that one microchip labeled AMVM 724 has began cracking and disintegrating.

I have cleaned and applied fresh thermal paste to the cpu and gpu on each removal of the heat sink.

I genuinely can’t believe this laptop hardly lasted longer than a few years. That’s the shortest a PC device has lasted me in the past 20 years of building and using pcs for work and gaming.

Due to integrated hardware, replacing the motherboard seems like a total waste of money as they go for $600 or so on eBay used. Far better off just putting that towards newer lines of gpus and cpus and scrapping the panel, and other hardware for parts…
