I just bought an Omen 16, I'd set my Microsoft account and everything where good, but the problem with it is that the minute I finish configuring all the stuff, when I get on the windows screen, I get an blue screen with the error
Stop code: PAGE _FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
What failed: HpReadHWData.sys.
What should I do?

I am having this same issue as of this morning 10/26/2024. The odd thing is that my account on the machine is working fine and never runs into the issue, but my wife's account (this is her laptop) crashes 100% of the time a minute after logging in. I have tried several different diagnostics, and nothing seems to be wrong with the RAM or drivers. This is the second I am having issues with this laptop due to HP related issues and HW.

I am having the exact same issue. It just started yesterday as well. My bsod starts a few seconds after windows starts, so I can't try to uninstall the Omen gaming hub. I can start the pc in safe mode, but it won't uninstall it there either. Any other way?

Hi @JacAW
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA" blue screen error, particularly involving HpReadHWData.sys, typically indicates an issue with hardware or drivers related to your HP Omen 16. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Step 1: Boot into Safe Mode
- Restart Your Laptop: As soon as it starts to boot, repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 (or hold Shift while clicking Restart) to access the recovery menu.
- Select Safe Mode: Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, and then select 4 or F4 to start in Safe Mode.
Step 2: Update or Roll Back Drivers
- Open Device Manager: In Safe Mode, right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Check for Updates: Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark, especially under System devices. Right-click on them and select Update driver.
- Roll Back Driver: If the issue started after a recent update, you might want to roll back the driver. Right-click the device, select Properties, go to the Driver tab, and choose Roll Back Driver if available.
Step 3: Uninstall Problematic Software
- Open Control Panel: Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Uninstall Recent Software: Remove any recently installed applications that could be causing the issue.
Step 4: Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings: In Safe Mode, access Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for Updates: Install any pending updates that might address compatibility issues.
Step 5: Run System File Checker
- Open Command Prompt: Press Win + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Run SFC: Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will check for and repair any corrupted system files.
Step 6: Disable Startup Programs
- Open Task Manager: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Go to Startup Tab: Disable unnecessary startup programs to see if any are causing the conflict.
Step 7: Restore to a Previous Point
If you set up a restore point before configuring everything, you could revert to that state:
- Open System Restore: Type rstrui in the Run dialog (Win + R) and press Enter.
- Follow the Prompts: Choose a restore point and follow the instructions to restore your system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

If you’re like me and experiencing constant blue screens due to this error, it’s Omen Gaming Hub, here’s the most effective solution: end the app in Task Manager, then uninstall it through Windows Settings > Apps. Disabling it on startup won’t stop it from running and causing crashes soon after booting. This app installs automatically with Omen monitors, and it’s causing instability, so removing it entirely has been the only reliable fix for me and apparently many other people

Here’s what worked for me: Immediately after booting up your computer, go into task manager and end everything that’s related to Omen Gaming Hub. Then you should be able to uninstall Omen Gaming Hub through Windows Settings > Apps without it causing bsod before you can remove it
