Hello!
I have HP Omen 17-an109nm and it's horrifyingly slow. It takes 10 minutes just to turn the laptop on and it freezes whenever I open more programs or documents simultaneously.
Hoping it'll make it faster/more functional, I want to upgrade it with SSD and extra ram. After doing my research online, I've found RAM Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 (CT16G4SFRA32A) and SSD Crucial P5 Plus 1TB M.2 NVMe (CT1000P5PSSD8) to be compatible with my laptop. It currently has a 1TB HDD in it and 8GB of RAM.
Now I need help. Is it really possible to insert those components onto it, specifically SSD? I didn't find any information that would assure me it has a free slot for it. Is it worth even investing in those components?
It has 600GB free on hard drive, I regularly maintain the fans, it isn't overheating - it's simply slow. I mostly just use Office and internet on it anyway, I rarely use anything else. When I try to open a heavier program like Adobe Premiere Pro it freezes multiple times on editing. I bought it in 2018. I'd really appreciate some help/advice on the subject.

Hi:
Yes, you can install 2 x 16 GB of memory in your notebook.
See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info.

Your notebook also supports a NVMe SSD.
I would not spend the extra money on the P5 Plus SSD because your notebook's M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3, so the advertised speed you see for the P5 Plus will not be achieved in your notebook. Nowhere close.
I have the regular Crucial P5 in a Dell desktop PC.
It is a great SSD except for one thing...it runs pretty hot. I added a heat sink to it to help keep it cool.
You will probably not have that luxury of space to do that in a notebook.
You are free to buy whatever SSD you want, but I recommend a cooler running NVMe SSD such as the Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro), the Western Digital Blue SN 570 or the Hynix Gold P31--which is supposed to be one of the coolest running NVMe SSD's on the market.

You're very welcome.
The Nvme SSD will greatly enhance your notebook's performance.
Generally 2 x 8 GB of memory is sufficient for most users, but if you have the extra money to install 2 x 16 GB of memory it will give your notebook plenty of available memory to have at its disposal.
