I was quoted $500.00 from HP to replace the swelled up battery on my laptop, I think that is outrageous. I take very good care of all my products, I am a preventive maintenance fanatic, I brush and blowout and keep everything like new. This has changed my mind for my next purchase as I was told that the batteries can last 1 to 3 years. They told me I got my monies worth after 2.5 years. That's absurd if you cannot just plug in a new one off the shelf.  I cannot find an exact part # for a replacement so that I can have a geek replace the battery for $75.00.  This was a mistake as my old HP, 2006 is still working fine. Can anyone tell me what numbers to help me search for an alternative ?

@microe , welcome to the forum.

What is the full model or product number of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information. Here is a guide to help you find it:  https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

Thank you so much but I got frustrated and I'm having someone fix it for me but I do believe that HP dropped the ball on this one and should have shared some of the responsibility on correcting this faulty part and not try to take advantage of loyal customers by offering a fix for a lot of money, I am suppose to belief that this could happen every year ? That's terrible. Next time Ill go back to old reliable Dell.
