Omen Gaming hub has not been giving me basic control over the fan speed - if i turn on max fan speed it will run on max fans for a couple of minutes and go back to auto after even though the option is still on max.
Also worth noting that VBS is disabled.

Am i just stuck waiting for a patch for the program or are there any other programs that help bypass that?

Hi @Hailew

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I see that you are facing issues with your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

May I know from when are you facing this issue?

Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Good day,
Everything is up to date and all drivers are in check. I also have external cooling solutions yet they are not much help when internal fans are doing their own thing instead of being at max.

I understand that laptops being hot is a normal thing though it crashes mid-activity due to overheating.
When fans are on max temperatures are around 65-70 degrees. When they are on what i presume "auto" after it runs for a bit on max it goes up to 77 and higher.

Thanks for your response.

May I know which application are you using to check the temperature?

Could you tell me if it happens on any particular application or while using all the applications?

I would suggest you use the link below and follow the steps to reduce heat inside the laptop: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_3894569-1692683-16

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Hailew,

My Omen 16 does this as well but what I noticed was it slows the fans down as the CPU GPU temps lower in steps.

If the temps are in the high 30's or low 40's the fans do not need to be on max so they slow down to minimal. This is normal on HP's.

What temps do you see as the fans slow down?

Did this issue start after the update released to gaming hub on the 9th Sept? I have a post on this and have currently uninstalled gaming hub due to temp issues it has caused me.

Normally when gaming I switch from balanced to perfomance with the fans on auto and this keeps the temps in the 70's.

I also raise the rear of the laptop an inch with a strip of wood under rubber foot strip, this helps keep things cool when gaming as there is not enough clearance for the fans to draw in enough air when things get hot. Poor design.

I don't use any other cooling products as it's not been required so far.

K.
