@Jamarsanna Do you still have the laptop? I have it working great on my end. Theres alot to explain. Right now i think my camera went bad. Green around the edges. Dont know if it was caused by bad driver or some other issue. But other than that the machine is a beast on the games I play. I run Quake Champions 1080p at 120fps no problem which is why I bought it. Does it just fine and these other games are a piece of cake. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try my best to help

Hi DNation

I bought this model too, a few months back and was just following some of your prior posts and thought you might be

able to answer a few questions, without stepping on someone elses toes? If I am please let me know.

1. I ordered a samsung 970 evo, coming on 12-5. Can you give me the short method you used? ie. clone software, hp mfg                install or recovery drive.

2. Did you ever find out about why we are unable to install drivers for our igpu 630 ? Did we get robbed or what?

3. In radeon settings I have  Driver Packaging Version17.10.1720.1001-170510a-314163C-HP     Radeon Software Version
17.1.1    Radeon Software Edition Crimson ReLive but all I see is a basic form of Chill and eyeinfinity within the radeon     settings. Thanks in advance for your time...

Can you point me to where you got the bells and whistles version?

#1 I made a USB recovery drive using the Microsoft tool built into windows 10. 16gb USB drive is a must. I did Not use the hp one. Doesnt matter. The ms recovery USB drive will save the current config of drivers and it will be just like using the hp one. All your hp preinstalled and omen command center will be there when you install on the 970 evo.  Save all your important data to an external drive. This will be like starting fresh. Once you get the evo open the laptop and unplug the battery and the hard drive. You must unplug the harddrive. Then install the 970 evo. Buy an m.2 screw. You have to screw it down. Once the 970 is in plug the battery back up and plug your laptop in. You have to use the ms recovery USB drive to install win 10 on the 970 evo before you can plug your hard drive back in. Remember to unplug the charger and battery before you go to put the harddrive back in. And be patient. The hard drive is a pain to plug back in. The cable has to slide into the door on the mother board. The door will slightly close when you do it right. You will know when you got it right and the then you can close the door on the cable. Plug your battery back in and put the screws back into bottom plate. I suggest reformatting drive. Leaving the old install can cause problems with the new one you have on the evo. Prepare for a blazing fast computer. It more than worth it.

#2 if you somehow activate the igpu you will have lost the rx580. Dont do it  it's not worth it.  We dont get switchable graphics on this config. Must be incompatible.

#3go into device manger and update the GPU driver there if you want the adrenaline relive software. The other way is a pain. Ms has the radeon software you want. I would get everything how you want it before making the USB recovery with Ms tool. I dont use chill anymore after I found that my heatsink not being screwed in was causing the heat but the adrenaline software is a lil better. Your driver packaging software should still be the same. I know for sure it will have the -hp on the end of the number If you got the right one. I'm not home right now but I'm sure it's the same one.

My driver packaging version is Driver Packaging Version 17.50.16-180118a-324038C-HP which is different than yours.

Sorry for the delayed response but I have been super busy on the home front. Meanwhile, back at the computer ranch....

Yes, I realized that you had a newer version driver package and after grabbing update from windows that gave me what I

was looking for, which brought me from Driver Packaging Version 17.10.xx-xxxxxxa-xxxxxxC-HP to now offically Driver Packaging Version 17.50.16-180118a-324038C-HP which is a big difference. It would have never cross my mind to go to windows update for that driver because of the -HP on the end, so I have to say thanks for that.

On a new front, my U.S. postman delivers my Samsung M.2 970 evo 500 however I had to find the right size m.2 screw

in my massive box of computer junk box. Making the usb (windows) recovery drive (on a new Sandisk Ulra 3.1 32g ) flash

took a good 45 minutes, did not think it would take that long, but it did. Shutting down, opening up the omen, uninstalling the HHD and installing the 970 was elementry, at best. Booting back up gave an unexpected choice of efi file or the Sandisk, so I chose Sandisk and it (with only the ssd installed) brought me straight to system recovery which took less 30 minutes (even with cortana putting her 2 cents in trying to help me with registration and what not). After recovery a reboot brought

me quickly to the desktop top. Windows explorer showed me what was expected. I used it for 2 days rebooting it several

times in this configuration. I then then shut down, unplug battery , reinstalled the hhd and cover then powered on while tapping I think f9 , which gave me a choice of 970 on top and efi below. I chose 970 and Im back to the desktop. Explorer

now shows C: Windows (the 970 evo) 😧 Windows (oldHDD) E: RECOVERY (Hp Recovery)

Hidden in disk management is RE Tools (both sets) and efi system (both sets)

Questions if I may?

1. What, if any, can I salvage or copy (without any corruption) from 😧 (old) prior to wipe?

2. Can E: RECOVERY (hp Recovery) be of any use other than robbing my space?

3. Will E: RECOVERY even work in this configuration (even though I do realize we still have internal WINRE)?

4. Other than HP recovery being able to reinstall apps and drivers within windows is there any other differences?

5. If in later years I wanted to put this machine back as I received it will I and what would i need to do it with? ie.

my orginal (one time) hp recovery usb or win 10 usb recovery drive?

6. Have you seen any difference at all in Samsung vs windows NVME drivers on your rig?

In conclusion, I realize some of this is surely some of the same road you traveled but I thought It wouldnt hurt for future others that it may help from more than one perspective. What I learned from reading many of your prior posts pertaining to this fantastisk powerhouse (although somewhat unigue with lots of potential) were more than helpful and were deadon with accuracy. It is greatly apprciated. As far as the machine, I love the little challanges it tends to throw my way and the upgrading potential that it has. 970 has greatly enhanced it performance, like you said it would and even turbo my WIN EXPER Score.

Many Thanks
