I have an Omen gaming laptop and thinking of buying the sexy curved Omen Monitor to play games on, will the monitor just plug in to the HDMI port if so will I be able to change the resolution to look good on the curved monitor, will most games support the wider monitor

You do not have a Thunderbolt port but you have a mini-DP port and that is what you should use although the HDMI port also might work.
Mini-DP port
The port you want to use is circled in red and you need a mini-DP to DP adapter:
The laptop should just pick up the resolution of the curved screen and if not HP has a driver you can install:

Games should adjust to the resolution of the screen. Depending on which video card you have in the laptop you might see some lag trying to run demanding games on that high of a resolution so might have to play it in a box for good framerates. But the curve as a visual effect will still occur.

Can we know the model of your Omen laptop? The HDMI port has to be able to drive a WQHD 3440 x 1440 screen @ 100 hz. Better if you have a Thunderbolt 3 port and hook the monitor up with a Tbolt 3 to Displayport adapter. That is, if your laptop has that port which some Omens do.
