Omen by hp 17t-an000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hi, i just got a hp omen 17t-an000 and when I go to omen command center, there are only three tabs available... Home, Macros and Network booster. Isn't lighting and overclocking available for this model?
Thanks

Hello @louisdefinesse

No, RGB lighting and Overclocking is not available for your model.

Only the Omen X series does this and even then, overclocking is not really advisable as laptops do not have the abilitly to cool the hardware the way a desktop setup can.

Hope it helps.

I have the Omen 870 - 129 and can't seem to use the command center to overclock.  Am I doing something wrong or is it just not possible?

Thanks

If that is the case, why do they say the speed is 2.2 up to 4.1? I only bought this because I was under the impression that HP ADVERTISED it's ability to get to 4.1? So what's the TRUTH or LIE???

I don't know which model you have but generally speaking, 2.2 up to 4.1 (depending on your cpu) is normal for a laptop. Its called throttling.

The system will throttle the cpu back when its not doing a cpu intense operation to reduce the heat that the CPU may generate and to conserve the battery life. When its required, the system will ramp up the cpu to meet what ever need.

Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't think about throttling for laptops. I think it gets confused with overclocking; it did me. Mine is the Omen 17t. The cpu usage program showed 3859 mhz so I  assume that means it was running at 3.859 ghz. I am sure this will help me and others understand how it works. I  used to overclocking the cpu to get the higher output. Thanks glen
