This morning when I hit the power button on my Omen laptop, the power button lit up for a few seconds, then there was an audible 'click' as it powered off again. There is a light by the power cable.
Before, when I had this issue, it was a voltage issue (changed to a different outlet) and things were fine. It was almost as if it needed a certain amount of base power to start, fine.
I tried those things today, but no luck. I tried unplugging the power cord, waiting a while, still same issue. I've tried holding down the power button for ten seconds (not plugged in and plugged in) and same thing. Power button light comes on, stays on for a few seconds, audibly turns off.
Nothing on the screen in any case, almost as if it doesn't even get that far. I'm at a bit of a loss with how to troubleshoot further on this.

Thank you for the video links ( I personally find videos quite unhelpful generally, text is far easier to reference.).
Based on what the titles of the videos are, yes, I have tried such things but both those examples assume the machine is actually getting somewhere.
Even so, I did try to see if I could access the bios by hitting the keys, but it doesn't stay on long enough to acknowledge any keypress.
1) I press power button. Light on power button comes on. 5-6 seconds later, there is an audible 'click' of sound as the light goes off.
2) I have tried this plugged in and not plugged in. Same issue in both cases.
3) I tried the power plug on another HP to verify it is in fact, working. I can verify power is definitely going through it.
4) I have encountered this problem before when the battery was flat and there wasn't enough power in the outlet to meet whatever minimum the machine needed. I moved it to a different outlet and it worked once the battery charged.
5) This time, I tried step 4 with several different outlets, tried leaving it unplugged for a while, also plugged in at a different outlet for a while to eliminate outlet or dead battery and neither attempt made any difference.
Wish I knew what the failure point *could* be.

I think our options are exhausted...
Sorry, but in your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges must be renewed
- The function of the fan(s) must be checked
- Short circuit test
- ( if required ) Bios (chip) desolder, reflash, Bios (chip) solder in
- charger/battery test
- Components test
- General cleaning ...
--- HP warranty valid -> Contact HP Support
--- HP warranty expired:
If you can't do that, you should have it <serviced> by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.

This is actually really helpful, thank you. I was beginning to worry that it might be that serious, but I was planning to open it up (since it's out of support) and see if there is anything obviously wrong, possibly disconnecting the hard drive to lower the power consumption to see if that will coax it to at least boot up for better diagnostics.
You've given me some very solid things to look at and see if it's worth investing the time and money for repair.
