Dear HP Support Team,

I am writing regarding an issue with my HP OMEN X 2S laptop (OMEN X 2S by HP Laptop, i7-9750H).

After upgrading to Windows 11, the secondary screen (the touch screen above the keyboard) no longer works. The behavior is as follows:

The second screen briefly flashes during restart/boot, which indicates the hardware is functional.

In Windows 11, the screen turns off completely and does not appear in Display Settings.

Device Manager shows all I2C / HID devices working normally (no Code 10 or other errors).

OMEN Gaming Hub is installed and running correctly, but there is no option for the second screen or dual-screen features.

BIOS is up to date, and there is no BIOS option related to enabling the second screen.

After extensive troubleshooting (driver reinstallation, OMEN SDK, EC reset, clean configuration), it appears that the OMEN X 2S second screen is not supported on Windows 11 due to missing or incompatible firmware / OMEN SDK support.

This is disappointing, as the secondary screen is a core feature of this laptop. I would like to ask:

Is HP planning to release official Windows 11 support (EC firmware / OMEN SDK update) for the OMEN X 2S second screen?

If not, can HP officially confirm that the OMEN X 2S dual-screen feature is unsupported on Windows 11?

Are there any recommended solutions or official workarounds other than downgrading to Windows 10?

I would appreciate an official clarification, as many OMEN X 2S users are facing the same issue.

Thank you for your time and support.

Kind regards,

Hi @Qusay2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out with your detailed explanation. The OMEN X 2S secondary screen feature was originally designed and validated for Windows 10. After upgrading to Windows 11, the second screen may not function because the required OMEN SDK components and firmware support have not been updated for Windows 11.

Current Status

  • HP has not released an official update for Windows 11 that restores the full functionality of the OMEN X 2S dual-screen feature.
  • At this time, the second screen is not supported on Windows 11.
  • The hardware remains functional, but the software integration required for the second display is not available under Windows 11.

Recommended Options

  1. Use Windows 10 for Full Functionality
If the second screen is critical for your workflow, HP recommends reverting to Windows 10, where the feature is fully supported.

  2. Keep OMEN Gaming Hub Updated
Ensure you have the latest OMEN Gaming Hub and drivers installed. While this will not restore the second screen on Windows 11, it ensures optimal performance for other OMEN features.

  3. Monitor HP Support Page
HP continuously evaluates compatibility updates. Please check the OMEN X 2S Drivers & Software page for any future firmware or SDK releases.

Is HP planning an update?

Currently, there is no confirmed timeline for Windows 11 support for the OMEN X 2S second screen. If this changes, HP will publish updates on the official support page.

We understand this is disappointing, and we appreciate your feedback. Your concern has been noted and shared with our product team.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
