Intel has admitted that there is a problem with 13th and 14th generation processors. I have a Victus by HP 15.6 inch 15-fa1000 and I have been experiencing noticeable performance degradation and computer heating problems with the latest updates. Will HP make a statement about the 13th and 14th generation processors? Are the problems I will list below related to this generation processor problems?
Problems.
1. When I first bought it, it kicked me out of the game after a certain period of time.
2. The temperature value was lower before the update while playing the game.
3. The screen went black when entering sleep mode and could not be woken up with the keyboard and mouse. It turned on after holding the power off button for 10 seconds and turning it off.
4. There was overheating at a point under the computer case.
5. It opened late during Windows startup time despite a new installation.
6. Sometimes a clicking sound came from the computer speakers.
7. Battery performance decreased significantly.
Actions taken.
1- Regular fan cleaning
2- Reinstalling the operating system and regularly updating all drivers and updates.
3- Keeping in a cool and dust-free place.
4. Reducing performance from power options and monitoring.
5. No problems in hardware problem detection.

Hi @15-fa1006nt,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with several issues related to your Victus by HP 15.6 laptop, and it's good that you've already taken steps to address them. Here’s a breakdown of your problems and how they might relate to the Intel 13th and 14th generation processor issues.
Issues and Potential Causes
- Game Crashes: Frequent crashes could be related to performance degradation or thermal throttling caused by the BIOS update. If the update has impacted how the CPU manages power and cooling, it could lead to instability during high-performance tasks like gaming.
- Increased Temperature: Higher temperatures after a BIOS update can be a sign that the update has altered how your CPU's thermal management is handled. Intel has acknowledged issues with their 13th and 14th generation processors, which might be contributing to this.
- Black Screen on Sleep Mode: This could be related to power management or driver issues introduced by the BIOS update. It might also be a compatibility issue with Windows or your specific hardware configuration.
- Overheating Under the Case: This is concerning and might be a result of inefficient cooling or altered power management settings after the BIOS update. Ensure that the cooling system is functioning correctly and that there’s no obstruction to airflow.
- Slow Startup: This could be a result of the BIOS update affecting system performance or boot management. A clean OS install is a good step, but if the BIOS update is causing issues, this might persist.
- Clicking Sound: This could be related to driver conflicts or hardware issues, though it's less likely to be directly related to the processor issue.
- Decreased Battery Performance: This might be due to changes in power management settings or increased power consumption due to the BIOS update.
Actions Taken
- Fan Cleaning: Regular maintenance helps, but if the BIOS update affects thermal management, this might not be enough.
- Reinstalling OS and Updating Drivers: Good steps to rule out software issues. However, if the BIOS update is the problem, these steps might not fully resolve the issue.
- Cool, Dust-Free Place: This helps maintain performance, but if the BIOS update has changed how cooling is managed, this might not fully address the problem.
- Performance Reduction and Monitoring: This can help mitigate overheating but might not resolve underlying issues caused by the BIOS update.
- Hardware Diagnostics: Good to confirm no hardware failures, though it might not detect issues related to BIOS or software conflicts.

Next Steps
- Check for Further BIOS Updates: Sometimes, HP releases additional updates to address issues introduced by earlier updates. Check if HP has released a new BIOS version for your laptop.
- Intel Updates: Keep an eye on Intel’s announcements or patches. They may release updates or workarounds for the problems with their processors.
- Thermal Paste Replacement: If overheating persists, consider reapplying thermal paste to the CPU, which can improve thermal transfer and cooling.
- System Settings Review: Ensure that your system settings, including power management and cooling options, are configured correctly for your current setup.
By addressing these points, you should be able to mitigate the impact of the BIOS update issues and improve your laptop’s performance and stability.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
